WHAT IS GINSENG

Ginseng is part of the Araliales plant family. The name ginseng, comes form the Greek language and means “all healing”. There are many different species of ginseng but the two most commonly known and used are Siberian ginseng (Eleutherococcus senticosus) and Korean ginseng (Panax quinquefolius).

The most popular researched and commonly used is the Korean Ginseng. Korean also known as Panax, Chinese and Asian ginseng is characterized by its content of ginsenosides. Ginsenosides which have been research in depth, are the active compounds behind ginseng's efficiency. Ginsenosides are able to affect multiple pathways, for example they can have a relaxing mental effect while simultaneously create a physical stimulation effect.

Ginseng grows best in the cooler eastern Asian and Siberian climates. It grows between 60 and 80 centimeters in height. The leaves are finger-like in their appearance while the root has a forked shape looking almost like a human, and this is how ginseng got its name “jen shen“ which in Chinese can be translated as “human root“.

Ginseng is used worldwide to increases the body's resistance to stress, trauma, anxiety, and fatigue. It has been used for centuries for its aphrodisiac strength. It is also commonly used for its powerful energy, immune system, memory and performance stimulating properties.
